Monday Meet and Greet- Arizona Mama

This week we welcome Nancy from Arizona Mama... check out her blog and read a little more about her below!

Your Name: Nancy aka fancygrlnancy

Where do you blog? Arizona Mama http://arizonamama-fancygrlnancy.blogspot.com/

How did you decide on what to name your blog? I was having a hard time with it.  I asked a few bloggy friends and got some great ideas.  Arizona Mama was suggested by Anna from The Baby Store Plus and I liked it immediately.  Its simple and really identifies that I am in Arizona and I am a mom.

Tell us a little bit about you....
I am a mom to an almost 3 and a half year old boy.  I started my family a little later in my 30's.  My wonderful husband is 8 years older than me and he has a daughter that will be 24 soon.  We are currently TTC our second together.  I work fulltime in a Head Start Program.  Currently I am a curriculum training specialist and I train the teachers and mentor them.  I was a Head Start teacher in the classroom for over 10 years.

Tell us 5 of your favorite things
1. my son
2. my husband
3. my mom
4. chocolate
5. winning giveaways

5 of your least favorite things
1. smokers
2. liars
3. cheaters
4. peas
5. paying bills

When and why did you start blogging?  I started blogging just under 2 years ago.  I honestly started because I was reading blogs and entering giveaways.  I wanted to get all those great extra entries for having the buttons and blogging.  I also wanted to keep kind of a live journal of my son's life.  I have been really bad about not writing in the baby book so I guess my blog is kind of pieces for the baby book.

What do you blog about?  I blog about my life with my son.  I also do many product reviews and giveaways.

What does your family think of your blog? Do they read it?  Most like the idea.  My mom reads it and even stared entering giveaways.  My husband reads it when its a personal post.  I know my brother in law and my aunt have looked at it, but not sure how much they read it.

When do you find the time to blog?  I blog in the evenings while I should be sleeping.. lol!  And nap time on the weekends.

What is your favorite blog post ever? I don't know about favorite posts, but recently I started a Thursday's Thoughts with Jayden and I write some of the funny things my son says.. he is so smart and cute.. Here are a couple:
and

What is your favorite item you ever reviewed? I have reviewed some great items!  two stick out I love for both the product and the great people that work there.. Picture Keeper http://arizonamama-fancygrlnancy.blogspot.com/2010/10/holiday-gift-save-your-memories-with.html  and Ova Cue Fertility Monitor http://arizonamama-fancygrlnancy.blogspot.com/2011/06/ovacue-fertility-monitor-review-part-1.html

What brand or product would you really like to work with/review? I would LOVE to review The Learning Tower  and I'd also like Vtech and Leap Frog

Hank Player T-Shirts!

I love supersoft, super comfy shirts, and it is something I look for for my children as well. When we were asked if we would like to review a shirt from Hank Player I was pretty interested in their T-Shirts.

We received a size 6 T-shirt for review... and here is my lovely son, Liam, modeling it:

I love that the shirts are pre-washed to help make them as soft as possible. Liam LOVES this shirt! He especially loves the graphic of it and that it says he does his own stunts! (What 6 year old doesn't do his own stunts?!)

Hank Player has so many fun T-Shirts... here are a couple of my favorites:

Hank Player has also recently come out with a girl's line... this is my favorite shirt from that line:

I really wish it came in 12 month size!

I really like the shirt we received. It seems to be a good quality shirt. The shirt hasn't shrunk at all...which is a BIG deal to me. All too often I purchase a shirt for one child and it shrinks so much that I have to give it to the next youngest. I am glad that Liam gets to keep his "motorcycle" shirt for a while!

The price is a little deterring if you are on a budget. Each shirt costs about $24, and that is a lot for me to put into a kid's shirt. However, the quality (and non-shrinking) of the material and shirt does seem to make it a decent value. Plus, who can resist the great graphics and phrases!

EVERYTHING happens for a reason...

So, this week has been rough. No, really. ROUGH. Our van started making noises...if you know us, you know we NEED our van. Well, within about a week the van was, well, dead. Kaput. Something happened to the motor and THAT is an expensive fix. A fix that our vehicle's worth just couldn't justify.

Granted, our van was old... it was a '99. We always buy used vehicles, it just makes more sense for us.... we had our van for 4(ish?) years, so it served us well.

Since that was our family's only mode of transportation, if we wished to go anywhere together, it had to be replaced.

On top of my already BUSY 3 days off, I had to also do searches for vehicles now too...not to mention the running around and figuring out childcare while we did this search. Well, now, I want to tell you that I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. No joke.

I had stayed up very late a couple nights ago scouring websites for good deals on 12 passenger vans, suburbans, yukons, excursions and the like (ya know, all the huge vehicles). We found a few good deals, but they were hundreds of miles away.

So, the next day we had to go to a town about an hour away to get some stuff from a big box store. On our way back we noticed we were low on gasoline, but weren't worried and figured we could make it to the next town where gas was cheaper... the gas light wasn't on so we were safe. Well, I had to make a quick costume run in Walgreens to see if they had a skeleton costume. When I came out from my successful shop my husband pointed to the dash... the gas light had come on.

So...we went around the building to pull into the alley and get to the closest gas station. Well, that alley just happened to be butted up against a car lot....and what should we see? A Yukon. A Yukon XL that just happened to be priced exactly in our price range.  Now, we figured it would be too good to be true... it must not have 4 wheel drive (which is mandatory where we live for a vehicle like that), it must have problems. We get out and look...low and behold- it has 4 wheel drive! And it is still in our price range!

Anyhow, the craziness of the story is that if we had gotten gas before Walgreen's we would have never seen the vehicle, and if the gas light hadn't come on while I was in Walgreen's we wouldn't have gone to the alley, and would have never seen the vehicle. Everything happens for a reason.

This isn't the first time I have noticed something like this... I have been speeding down the road, only to get behind a super slow driver....then 2 minutes later pass a police officer. I have forgotten something at the house and had to turn around and get it (annoying), only to find that I had just missed a three car pile up. I have noticed so many things that change my course of a day only to result in something else happening (that either saves me, is needed, or is just plain oddly coincidentally related to the other event).

So, now we have a new vehicle with a payment we can afford... there are a few minor problems that came with the vehicle (and was probably the reason for it's lower price), but they are things that we can fix. First on the to-do list... get a seat to make the vehicle an 8 passenger. ;)

Have you ever noticed an experience like this in your life? I would love to hear about it!

OUT! Pet care products!

Do you have pets? I do. We are definitely a pet friendly home...although pet's aren't always so friendly to our home. You know what I mean, those wonderful surprises they leave here and there.

Well, we've definitely dealt with our fair share of accidents... thankfully there is OUT! Stain and Odor Remover! The OUT! Stain and Odor Remover is lightly scented. I appreciated that. I can't handle strong chemical scents, which most detergents and stain fighters have, but this was a very light scent. This cleaner is also safe for use around children and pets, and I really like that too. It is nearly impossible to keep both my children and pets away from things while I clean. I like knowing that if I can clean with them both in the home. It gets stains out really well...and not just pet stains! We actually decided to use it to get out a kool-aid stain from white fabric- with great results!

And how about those nice surprises that are left in the yard.... I am talking about doggy doo. NOT my favorite chore. This usually requires me to rake and shovel and it is just plain messy and gross. OUT!'s One Handed Poop Scoop does the job so much easier! The One Handed Poop Scoop is just that... use only one hand to squeeze the handle and open the scoop, then release to scoop it up. VERY helpful if you need the other hand for, say, a leash?  One thing I really like about this is the teeth on the scoop, it really get's in there and gets the poo. Just make sure your children (if you have them) don't try to use it as a snapper toy...those teeth are sharp and pointy!

I also love how this tool folds in half easily for easier storage.  It really is very convenient!

OUT! Also has Pick-Up Bags. So, on those beautiful walks that you take with that special canine, you can be prepared.

The nice thing about these Pick-Up Bags is that you can easily tie them with the handles. I like to know our little surprise is contained, especially if there isn't a waste receptacle anywhere close!

What are some of your favorite pet products? Do you think any of these would be handy?

So..... I PASSED!

In case any of you didn't see my Facebook and Twitter posts yesterday, I did in fact pass my USPS driving test!  I received my official offer of employment today, and I go for my physical on Friday! I am VERY excited, and the local post office that I am being hired for has been SOOOO fantastic! They have been routing for me every step of the way!

I will still be working as a CNA, and I will still be blogging.... I will just be delivering mail now as well!

Thank you ALL for your well wishes, thoughts, and prayers!

Monday Meet and Greet- MI Savings Mama

Our featured blog this week is MI Savings Mama! A big thank you to Amy for sharing with us!

Your Name:  Amy

Where do you blog? http://misavingsmama.com

MI Savings Mama

How did you decide on what to name your blog.  It was suppose to start off as a Money Savings Blog and I live in Michigan, So it was only fitting to have it MI (for Michigan) and Savings.  When I went to wordpress, I then had to find a different name because misavings.com was already taken.

Tell us a little bit about you....

When and why did you start blogging?  I started blogging over a year ago.  It was my out from daily life.  My husband played video games at night and I needed something to keep my self occupied, so I started a blog.

What do you blog about?  I started blogging about savings and then realized that you can save money by using coupons, but you can also save money by just buying the right product.  So I started doing Reviews on my blog.

What does your family think of your blog? Do they read it?
My family really doesnt read it - Most of the time.  They do support me in doing it - and my friends make sure to keep me on track when it comes to posting.

When do you find the time to blog?
Finding time is the hardest thing for me to do.  I work 2 jobs plus I am a mom, so it tends to be later at night after the lil guy goes to bed.

What is your favorite item you ever reviewed?
My favorite Review Item was Flip Flop Wines.  Not because it is wine, but because of the great people I had helping me review it!

What brand or product would you really like to work with/review?
I would really love to review a Dyson.  I have wanted one for years.  That is my "holy Grail" of reviews.  I would also love to work with KitchenAid on reviewing one of their mixers!

What has been your biggest blogging challenge, how did you overcome it?
I transferred my own blog from blogger to word press.  That was probably one of the biggest Techy Challenges that I have faced. The biggest challenge is sometimes just finding the right words to start a post.  I tend to write the post by starting in the middle, writing the last paragraph and then just sitting there and thinking of how to begin it.

What advice would you give a new blogger?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help.  Everyone started as a Newbie at one point in time or another.
And if someone is trying to give you advice – and tell you that you are worth more than you are allowing yourself.  Trust them.  They have been there.

Hello, My name is Jen...and I am TERRIFIED of Friday!

I am scared terrified of the impending doom coming this Friday. No, I am not joking...

What is it that I am so concerned about, you ask?

This:
source

And this:

And most of all.... this:

All because I want to do this:

That's right...! I want to be a mail carrier. Well... a part time mail carrier. I have applied for a position in a local post office and I am to the point where I have to take my USPS driver assessment test.

Let me tell ya, this test is INTIMIDATING. They look for ways to fail you.... I was told that no one who has applied for this position in the last six months has passed the driver's assessment test! Now I am even more terrified... and to top it all off- I have to drive an hour away to the closest thing northern Michigan has to a large city! I HATE driving in the city. *sigh*.

So, I sit here psyching myself out and studying. I have never been a good parallel parker- I will walk 10 blocks to avoid parallel parking! I have done a U-Turn about twice in my driving life, and never done a Y-Turn or a K turn (both requirements for the test). I don't keep two hands on the wheel at all times, I don't curb my wheels or put my parking break on when parking, and I rarely stop before a stop sign ( I usually stop a few feet afterward... to see better). All these things will be watched during my assessment.... so now I need to re-learn how to be very strict in my driving ways.

Now, although I am not rigid and strict in following all the driving rules I do want to say I have only once been in an accident involving another driver (that one time was in a parking lot involving an EMT vehicle going too fast and without lights and sirens, and the cop said it was NOT my fault). I know I am a good driver... and I think I *should* pass this test, but I totally feel like I will fail!

How, oh hoooooow will I figure out how to calm myself for the test!?!  I am so worried that I will be soo terrified that I will get into an accident or do something totally stupid.

Any of you wonderful readers taken an USPS driver's assessment test before? How was it, I need all the scary details...

Monday Meet and Greet- Staying Me

Your Name - Stacie

Where do you blog? http://staying-me.com

How did you decide on what to name your blog? I’m trying to make myself a better wife, mother, and person in general, without changing who I am. So Staying Me (just creating a better version) is what I came up with!

Tell us a little bit about you.... I’m a SAHM of four girls, ages 15, 12, 3, and 18months. I have been married to the Computer Dude for over 13 years, and plan on at least quadrupling that! During the very little free time I get, I enjoy working on one of the unfinished crochet or cross stitch projects I have. Someday I plan on learning to run, but haven’t gotten around to that yet.

Tell us 5 of your favorite things, and 5 of your least favorite things...
Favorite: Piano music, reading, Autumn, chocolate, and learning new things
Least favorite: Traffic, washing dishes, beets, bills, and

What do you blog about? I love to bring reviews and giveaways to my readers, but I also like to write about the struggles of being a mom, trying to be healthy, and finding time for myself.

When do you find the time to blog? Now that school has started, my old morning blogging time is gone, so now I blog at night, or during nap time.

What is your favorite item you ever reviewed? Definitely the Chevy Equinox! http://staying-me.com/2011/06/lets-have-some-chevyfun/.html

What brand or product would you really like to work with/review? Oh, there’s so many! Vera Bradley is probably my current goal.

What has been your biggest blogging challenge, how did you overcome it? Wanting too much too fast was and is my biggest challenge. Still working on being patient and working harder!

What advice would you give a new blogger? Have patience and realistic goals, and don’t give up!

What are your favorite blogs to read?
I have a lot of blogs that I read, but these two seem to be the ones that I read EVERY DAY no matter what:

Bissell Stomp 'n Go!

Bissell is a big name in our house... with six children (and several pets) we need products that perform well against all the messes our little ones make. Bissell has always been there for us.

Today I want to tell you a little bit about Bissell's new product, the Stomp 'n Go!

Let's set the scene... you give your little one a nice big sippy cup full of oh, let's say... grape juice. It's in a sippy cup, so no messes right? Well, let's say that little one just figured out how to take the lid off said sippy cup.... and of course, it had to be on your nice white carpet.

Now what?

Well, now you grab your Bissell Stomp 'n Go stain removing pads!  Using a powerful oxy-based formula, the pre-moistened pads make cleaning easy and fun. You open your Stomp 'n Go, place the pad on the stain, and STOMP. Your stomping action is all that is required of you! Once the pad is placed, you leave the pad on top of the stain from 30 minutes up to 24 hours. Tougher stains will take longer.

We got to try the Bissell Stomp 'n Go on a milk spill.

Uh oh...

Phew.. .all gone!

Thankfully that is the only spill we have had since we got the Bissell Stomp 'n Go samples! These pads are great for  permanently cleaning tough set in stains like red wine, food, fruit juice, coffee/tea, pet messes, blood, mud/dirt and more.

Stomp 'n Go pads are portable and safe for use on all carpets including nylon, wool and stain resistant carpet.

I love that there is no scrubbing, no cleaning solutions, really no effort in using the Stomp 'n Go pads! I also love their price! A pack of 5 Stomp 'n Go pads are only $4.99! Bissell Stomp 'n Go pads are currently available at Kmart, grocery stores and select Wal-Mart stores.

“I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of BISSELL and received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.”

ColorTime Review and #Giveaway!

My kids love to color... trust me, if I showed you our walls you would know! They also LOVE Halloween! We love dressing up and going to the local nursing home that I work at to collect candy.

However... our candy collection bags usually aren't the "coolest".  We've usually used some reusable totes from our local grocery store...well not this year!

Colortime Crafts and Markers sent us four Halloween tote bags and a set of fabric markers for review!

We received these great Halloween Trick or Treat totes! They will be perfect for our fun night out!

We also received a set of the Bold Fabric Markers.

The kids were more than excited to color their bags... they couldn't believe they got to choose how they were colored!

These totes are fantastic. They are much higher quality than I expected... really, they are. They aren't thin at all, they are thick, sturdy totes! I was a little oncerned that my kids would make the markers bleed through the fabric. Even though the instructions said to only place a paper towel in the totes while coloring, I placed cardboard in the totes. I didn't have an issue with the markers bleeding through though, only a couple spots ended up on our cardboard. I am sure the paper towels would have been enough.

We really enjoyed this activity, and I do believe we will do it annually now! I think this will be a fun activity to do each October, and it is something that the kids can keep and use to see how their artistic ability changed through their childhood years!

Be sure to check out Colortime's Facebook page for some Halloween deals!

Monday Meet and Greet- Sarah's Blog of Fun!

Your Name: Sarah

Where do you blog? http://www.sarahsblogoffun.com

How did you decide on what to name your blog?   That was tough.  I raked my brain over that for days.  Then I just typed in Sarahs Blog Of Fun, because I couldn't think of anything else.  I just started my blog to enter giveaways anyway, so why did it matter.  I never would have thought my site would be what it is today!!

Tell us a little bit about you....

Tell us 5 of your favorite things, and 5 of your least favorite things...

5 Favorite Things-
Hubby
Kids
Tea
Brownies
Free stuff

5 Least Favorite Things-
Getting Old
Only 24 hours in the day
Not working with my Husband anymore (we both worked the same job for 8 years and saw each other all day!!)
Greedy people
Loosing money in the stock market!!

When and why did you start blogging?    I opened my blog in December 2009, but I really didn't start using it until April 2010.  Like I said above, I only opened it to enter giveaways.  Then when I saw people doing reviews, I figured "Hey, I can do that too!!" Then I started playing games on my site to try to make my blog different.  Now it's what it is today- HUGE!!!  lol

What do you blog about?   You name it, I blog about it.  Family, Deals, Reviews, Giveaways, Funny stories and pictures.  I once wrote a post about doggie dentures!!!

What does your family think of your blog? Do they read it?    My Family loves it!!  Hubby, because I get a lot of neat new products he has never heard of or tried, and because I make money off of it now.  With all my hard work over the last year, I won't have to pay for any christmas presents!!  The same goes for the rest of my family.  My parents love to see what I get, and they love when they get to help review stuff too!!

When do you find the time to blog?    Well, I have two small kids, a hubby, dog, out of the house job, and some medical issues, so I never know when I am going to be on here.  I at least try for an hour a day.  Somedays I am up all night to get work done!!

What is your favorite item you ever reviewed?  I haven't written about it yet, but it's an awesome item.  I received a 26 " Mirror Television for my bathroom.  I am hoping to have it up soon!!!

What brand or product would you really like to work with/review?  This is a tough question.  There are a lot of companies I want to work with.  Hoover, Whirl Pool, Omaha Steaks, Ford!!!!  (Hint Hint!!!)

What has been your biggest blogging challenge, how did you overcome it?    Learning.  There is sooooo much to learn to do this job.  There is always a new social media site to join, a new paid post site, etc.  I haven't overcome it, and I hope I never do!!!  Learning all the new things makes my job fun!!!

What is the best advice or knowledge that you have found?    Ask questions.  Bloggers are AWESOME people who are more then willing to help you out (me included!!!)  If you don't understand something, just ask.

What advice would you give a new blogger?   Set realistic goals.  Do not think your site is going to make you millions with in a year.  It takes a lot of time and hard work to get to the million mark!!!  Has anyone hit that point yet??  lol

BuyAliceInWonderlandCostumes.com Review!

Do you love Alice in Wonderland? We do too... So for this Halloween we decided that Annabelle would be Alice, and my husband, The Mad Hatter!

Adorable, right?

Well, if you'd like to go with an Alice in Wonderland theme too... I highly recommend checking out www.buyaliceinwonderlandcostumes.com !

BuyAliceinWonderlandCostumes has the costumes you need that will impress everyone!

We received the Mad Hatter costume for review... and my husband was impressed! He said the costume was surprisingly comfortable, the material was soft- not scratchy like he had anticipated. He also said he thought it was very well made.

I love that the costume came with nearly everything he needed to wear. All he needed was a t-shirt and shoes! That's right, the costume came with the hat, jacket, pants, vest, partial white shirt, and ascot! I found it surprising that with all the included pieces the quality was still there. This costume is well worth the money!

Now if you like the Mad Hatter, but would rather go with the newest Disney version...no worries, they have plenty of styles of Mad Hatter costumes!

You can also find some great Queen of Hearts costumes....

I would love to use this costume to be the Queen of Hearts:

And don't forget the Cheshire Cat! BuyAliceinWonderlandCostumes has some great Cheshire Cat costumes...

So cute!!

What is your favorite Alice costume? If you could be any character, which would you choose?

EnviroKid Bean Bag Review and #Giveaway!

What if I told you I found a bean bag that is environmentally friendly, never needs to be refilled, and that your kids will LOVE?

Well... it's true!

EnviroKid offers environmentally-friendly (PVC and Pthalate-Free!) bean bags that your kids will love.

We received the Bean Bag Lounger from EnviroKid.

These Bean Bag Loungers are BIG! They are MUCH bigger than I thought they were going to be.

In fact, here are FOUR of my kids on it...

The dimensions of the EnviroKid Bean Bag Lounger are, 53"x40"!

The outside of the bag is made of EnviroLeather, a PVC free synthetic leather (that feels very close to the real thing). This EnviroLeather quickly adjusts to the child's body temperature as well, so the little one isn't uncomfortable when sitting/laying on the bean bag! I am sure most of you have sat on one of those plastic-y covered bean bags and felt how uncomfortable they can be.

The EnviroLeather is durable, too. I thought, for sure, that this Bean Bag Lounger would last less than a month in our home. With our five boys, I fully expected it to be torn apart and the filling to be everywhere. Well, that hasn't happened yet!

While the beans in traditional bean bags are made with styrene foam (and crush and lose their shape), EnviroKid's Bean Bags have different beans,

"The durable core of the bean bag is made from resilient beads that don’t crush or lose their shape. This eliminates the need to refill the bag once you’ve purchased it." -EnviroKid

The boys were so excited to see this Bean Bag Lounger in their room! It has been incredibly durable, and it still looks brand new. The only thing that was a little different was that the Bean Bag Lounger doesn't feel "broke in" yet. There are a lot of beans in the bag, and since they do't crush and lose their shape, it stays pretty full and this leaves a more stiff feeling seat. None of the kids complained about it at all, that is just my view from an adult standpoint. I don't think the kids care much about it being "broke in"... and I love that EnviroKid has made a product that I can feel better about using.

GIVEAWAY!
