Fluffy Fridays- Kissaluvs Antibacterial Wetbag Review

If you're gonna cloth diaper, you're likely to be in the market for a wetbag. Kissaluvs has a wetbag for you.

Kissaluvs recently introduced their new Antibacterial Wet Bag. This wetbag has a "waterproof PUL inner with a special antibacterial finish to keep bacteria from growing on soiled diapers". The PUL "has been specially treated with SILVERPLUS® antimicrobial effect, which is Okeo-Tex Standard 100 compliant. This special finish also helps reduce unpleasant odors and protects against the spreading of health hazardous bacteria which can sometimes collect on soiled diapers".

Sounds pretty cool, right?

I received the Kissaluvs Antibacterial Wetbag for review...

The wetbag measures about 10x13in. and can hold 3-5 diapers.

The Spinning Circles design that we received is such a fun print!  I like the zipper, personally, since I feel like there is less of a chance for a leak, especially compared to drawstring type closures. I use this wetbag in our diaper bag, and while I haven't ever left soiled diapers in it for any significant amount of time, I do like knowing that if I happened to forget my soiled diapers in it, there is less of a chance of having major stink issues.

This wetbag doesn't require washing every time you use it. When you do wash it, just toss it in the wash and dry on low heat or on the line.

Overall, this wetbag works well for our soiled diapers, and is a more fun and green alternative than plastic bags.

Fluffy Fridays- Tropical Traditions Laundry Powder- #Giveaway!

We all use laundry detergent, or at least I assume we all do, and it is always a struggle to find which one is the best. Cloth diapers can add to the stress of finding the right laundry detergent.

Fluffy Fridays- Baby Blossom Designs

Andrea, from Baby Blossom Designs, has given me a medium PUL diaper cover to review.

Here is the diaper cover I received:

This diaper cover is made with PUL, with fold over elastic at the waist and legs. The cover is fastened with Touchtape closure, for a truly adjustable fit- which is important with the varying sizes of prefolds and fitteds.

I really like that there are laundry tabs, they are a very important feature to me when I am dealing with Touchtape/Aplix/Velcro. I also like that the Touchtape is far enough away from the elastic that it doesn't grab at it and ruin the elastic on the tabs, which I have another brand's cover that this has happened with.

I do feel that this cover is a bit small. I can't use it with my one size fitteds because they are too fluffy and the rise on this cover is too short. I may have needed the medium-long size. I do like to use this cover with my prefolds, and I have even used it more like an AI2 (just put a trifolded prefold in and switched it out). It was slightly tricky to figure out how to put the cover on so that there wasn't a gap in the legs or waist- again, I think this could be my skinny thighed girl's problem. However, if you are worried about the cover fitting well, Andrea can absolutely do a custom cover just for you- to your baby's measurements. This will ensure a better fit all around!

 The diaper cover has held up decently. The tabs are curling a little bit, though. The PUL is going strong and I expect it will for quite some time- and it hasn't stained yet!

Fluffy Fridays- Smartbottoms Review and Giveaway! CLOSED

Like cloth diapers? New to cloth diapers and don't want to purchase without seeing a product? Like those home parties other companies have?  Well, Smart Bottoms combines all that into an awesome brand. 

Smart Bottoms is a cloth diaper company that is a little different than most. One reason is Smart Bottoms' home parties. Like other home party brands, Smart Bottoms wants you to see the product, and really get to know it as well. In order to ensure that you learn the most about Smart Bottoms, the Smart Bottoms party is hosted by a Smart Bottoms Distributor. 

We were sent two diapers to try out. The Smart One, and the Smart Cover with Smart Fold Insert.

 

First Thoughts.... these are kinda wide.

Let's first talk about the Smart Cover and Smart Fold.

This fits my two year old pretty well (we got the large size). The Smart Fold is very absorbent, which is great- but with that absorbency comes some bulk. I found that I could only tri-fold this and lay it in the cover, but that worked pretty well. One change that I would like to see is for the snaps to be covered. My son hates snaps touching his skin, so I had to be very careful about these. I do love that there are hip snaps, though, it makes this diaper pretty secure.

The Smart One diaper is Smart Bottoms' all-in-one diaper. 

All-in-one diapers are by far the easiest to use. No stuffing, no folding, just put 'em on and go.  The inside of the Smart One is so soft! I personally love the feeling, but Annabelle is very sensitive to wetness, so we have to use a fleece liner with this diaper (and any other diaper without a stay-dry material). 

This diaper is pretty wide in between the legs, but Annabelle didn't seem to mind. This diaper also has the uncovered snaps... I really prefer for them to be covered, and this diaper does leave snap marks on Annabelle (I don't think the snaps bother her, however).

There is definitely some fluff factor here. We don't use jeans with this diaper because they don't fit... but we love the leg warmers anyhow, so we don't mind too much. As with all AIO's the drying time is a bit longer, which we did note with the Smart One, but the convenience makes up for the drying time (in my opinion).

Fluffy Fridays- Snaps or Aplix?

Such a hard choice in the beginning.... what to choose? Snaps... or Aplix (AKA hook and loop, or Velcro).

I personally choose snaps. I like snap closures because they seem to last longer.

 Aplix gets stuff stuck in it, making it less "sticky" and when the Aplix doesn't grip properly then you can have a diaper oops! I also like that snaps are much more difficult for little ones to break out of. I have always dreaded the phase when my children learned to take off their diapers....that means a LOT of laundry for me!

All in all, it is a personally choice. Aplix is easier to put on in a flash, and you get a truly customizable fit (you aren't restricted to only where snaps are).

Fluffy Fridays- Lovely Pocket Diapers CLOSED

Let me introduce this week's featured fluff.... Lovely Pocket Diapers. Lovely Pocket Diapers (LPD) is on a mission to help you cloth diaper your child without breaking the bank. 

Melissa, owner of LPD, sent us two diapers to review.

First Thoughts: So cute!

These diapers both cost $7.50. Not a bad price at all! I think it is SO important that diapers be affordable... a lot of parents who choose cloth do so to save money. When diapers cost $25 a piece, they no longer are affordable for most.

Even more affordable are the solid diaper options at only $7.00 per diaper.

I like the fit of these diapers, since they are one size diapers they were able to fit both my, now, 7 month old daughter and my 2 year old son.  I did have one problem with them... wing droop. Since these diapers do not have hip snaps, I have found that the front of the diaper droops down and creates an area that can leak.  This usually doesn't happen right away, but if your child is active it does happen more quickly.

One feature that I do like is on our monkey diaper the outside material overlaps and covers the inside top portion of the diaper. This is very helpful to prevent wicking if you have a major front wetter like we do.

LPD also released their newest diaper, the Rave. It is a little more expensive, but has some nice features!

Fluffy Fridays- Dippee Dypees Review and Giveaway! CLOSED

    

Let's talk about prefolds.  I know a lot of parents like prefolds, but have you ever wished that there were some wings or tabs on them? I know, from my own prefold experience, that prefolds can be tricky to fasten sometimes and that  some wings would be very helpful in that department. Well, Renee from Dippee Dypees has done just that.

When Renee's youngest was born she turned up allergic to everything synthetic so Renee started making diapers with bamboo, she loves bamboo French terry, which is very absorbant and trim!

Let's take a look at an example of her diapers:

I love this print, SO cute!  Anyhow, see the wings...yep, those make it much easier to snappi/ pin your diaper!

I wasn't sure if the piece of fabric on the right was specifically a washcloth, or a doubler, but I have used it as both, lol. 

First thoughts.... why not add snaps?

Now after my first thought, I kinda figured it out though. With Snappis or pins, you can get a truly custom fit.... no worry about if the snaps are in the right spot to ensure fit. So, I do get why you wouldn't want to add snaps. (Renee can add snaps to your prefold, but it will limit the fit).

Anyhow... I like this prefold. Here is a picture of Annabelle wearing the Dippee Dypees,

Now, I am not a Snappi-ing expert yet, so it probably isn't the best use of Snappi that you have seen, but the diaper itself looks great! I love that it is trim... no diaper to baby's knees here!

This diaper has washed well, it still looks very nice!  It also has come clean really well so far. 

I don't use this as an overnight diaper, as my daughter gets really mad when she feels wetness and this diaper seems to bother her more than others, but we use it at nap time and car rides since it is more absorbent that our pocket diapers.

I really couldn't find anything negative to say about the diaper. The only problem we encountered is that Annabelle seemed to notice being wet more in this diaper than others that we have.
