Sad, Mad, Glad.

About a week ago we introduced a new activity to our family's dinner experience. We've always shared dinner together, always sat around the same table. I've loved the conversations and closeness that it brings. We recently heard of a "game", and we've now adopted it into our daily schedule.

Sad, Mad, Glad. It's easy to "play". In our family we start with the youngest (well, the youngest who can talk), and ask them to share one thing from their day that made them sad, one thing from their day that made them mad, and one thing from their day that made them glad.  When each person is talking they are the only one who's allowed to speak, everyone else has to listen and no one is excused from the table. It's really been a great lesson in patience and respect!

The first day we just tried it to see how it would go, to our surprise the kids asked to pay it the next night and have been insistent on doing it every day since! It has definitely given us a little more insight to our children's day as well. One day we learned that two of the boys had been fighting on the bus (something they didn't share with us when simply asked how their day was). I'm not sure who "created" this game, but I love it and wanted to share it with all of you, because I think your family may love it too!

If you try Sad, Mad, Glad, or currently play, please share your experiences!

Brighten up your wardrobe! #SpringAtKohls sponsored

I participated in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Kohl’s. I received a gift card as a thank you for participating.

It’s Spring- no really... it is, technically, Spring. Okay, while it doesn't feel much like Spring here in northern Michigan, I know it's coming and a few fresh pieces in my wardrobe will help me think Spring!

Kohl’s Spring Fashion Hangout provides great tips on what trends to be on the lookout for right now. From the color pink to dresses and roll-cuffed denim they share it all! Pink hasn't always been part of my wardrobe, but I have found that it actually really compliments my skin tone. This season I’m going to take Kohl’s' advice and wear pink in a big way, I have my eye on that Lauren Conrad flower-print shirt!

Watch the Kohl’s Spring Fashion Hangout and tell me.... what trends will you be wearing this season?

Breakfast Battle... #NGHarvest #MC

“I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central for Nutri-Grain. I received product samples and promotional item to thank me for participating.”

I know I can't be the only adult to have a serious battle with breakfast. I just don't have time for it! I am often eating whatever I can put in my hands and walk out the door with (yes, sometimes it's cold, left over pizza). Unfortunately, when I just grab and go, it usually isn't always the most filling- and that means I will likely snack sooner and more frequently....and of course, there are days when I just can't find something in the house that I can eat on the go.

Eating a wholesome breakfast is an important way to start each day, but the clock and ever-changing morning to-do lists seem to conspire against busy adults, leaving us feeling unprepared to take on the challenges of the morning ahead. The healthy, on-the-go Nutri-Grain® Fruit & Oat Harvest cereal bars are made with a hearty combination of protein (4 grams!) , real fruit and whole grains to help busy adults thrive, not just survive the whole morning.

You've been there, right? Just trying to survive until lunch....watching the clock tick away until you can grab something to stave off the hunger pangs. Even if you aren't feeling starved, energy levels can crash if you haven't had enough protein to fuel you throughout the day. Missing breakfast just isn't any good. Well, we were happy to try these new Fruit & Oat Harvest cereal bars.

My husband loves these. He's always been a fan of Nutri-Grain bars, as have I, but he really loves the Fruit & Oat Harvest bars. I think I prefer the traditional Nutri-Grain bars, personally- I'm not a huge fan of the fruit being on top. Raymond, though, thinks these are the best new food item he's tried recently and has asked me to keep the cupboards well stocked for his needs. The kids enjoyed these as well, and I do think these will be a great item to have on hand for those mornings when we are especially rushed (ahem... late).

At a suggested price of $3.59 per box (of 5 bars), I think the price is reasonable and I don't feel too bad about picking a few boxes up to keep everyone happy.

So, what about you? Do you find breakfast a challenge? What do you normally have?

A bright smile, part 2!

I received a Target gift card to purchase LISTERINE Brand products from Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. and The Motherhood as part of my participation in the LISTERINE 21-Day Challenge. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.

A few weeks back, I started the LISTERINE 21-Day Challenge. It only takes 21 days to form a new habit...and with this thinking, it was time to make a new habit of swishing at night...and in the MORNING.

Night time hadn't been a problem for me, as I had been using LISTERINE antiseptic for many years before the challenge, but morning was new territory.  Well, it's still a work in progress. Although I have gotten much better, it's still not 100%. It is something I am determined to continue working on, however!

During this challenge, LISTERINE offered to donate $5 to Oral Health America for each Swish Selfie that was submitted to their Facebook page. I was happy to join in the fun with my own #SwishSelfie!

The products that I have been using have been great, but next time I buy I will pay closer attention to get similar/same flavors across the products as it's a little odd to have so many different mints combined in my mouth.  I am actually pretty excited to see my dentist on Thursday and hearing what he says about my teeth (hoping for a great report)!

I can feel the difference in my gums, especially from flossing and then swishing. They don't bleed or throb like they used to (I admittingly did not floss as frequently as I should have... bi-weekly at best :/ ). I wake up in the morning and don't feel like I have putrid breath, which has been great.

I hope some of you have joined in the challenge with me and even entered your own #LISTERINE #SwishSelfies!

What's your favorite LISTERINE product?

I just ate chocolate for breakfast.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Honey Bunches of Oats for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

How about that? Okay, it wasn't straight up chocolate...but it was good! I ate Honey Bunches of Oats Morning Energy Chocolatey Almond Crunch cereal.

The new Honey Bunches of Oats Morning Energy cereals help get you going in the morning and keep you going all day. Packed with whole grain, protein and fiber, the combination of crispy whole grain flakes and granola clusters doesn’t sacrifice on taste to deliver a nutritious, wholesome breakfast. Available in two flavors – Cinnamon Crunch and Chocolatey Almond Crunch – these cereals are a great way to jump-start your day and help reduce mid-morning hunger.

Out of the two flavors I prefer the Chocolatey Almond Crunch. They were both good, but I felt a bit indulgent when grabbing the chocolate variety and pouring it into my breakfast bowl. I feel like the Cinnamon Cruch flavor is something I have had before, while the chocolately crunch was different. While I had tried chocolate flavored cereal, the crunchieness of the granola took it to a whole new level.

While we know breakfast is a very important meal (if not THE most important) good choices for a breakfast that are tasty aren't always readily available. These delicious new flavors are great and the whole grain and protein are great for an added boost to the start of your day. We've been huge fans of Honey Bunches of Oats here for a long time and it is great to add these to our shopping list!

Which flavor do you think you would like best?
