Nap Nanny Chill Review!

Have you ever seen a baby that refuses to be put down? It can be almost funny at times, the second the baby is laid down, it cries, the second someone picks the baby up, it is fine. Well, my daughter Annabelle is one of those babies.  The first four months of her life were filled with many sleepless nights. She is just so picky about where she sleeps, and she hates laying flat. Most of the first few months, Annabelle slept on my chest, in an upright position.

We were given the extraordinary opportunity to review the Nap Nanny Chill, and I am so thankful!

Okay, so what is the Nap Nanny Chill?

Let me show you!
The Nap Nanny was thought up by Leslie Gudel-Kemm, after many nights of her daughter only getting sleep when in a car seat or swing. Her daughter didn't like laying flat, and many other babies don't as well.

So, Leslie thought up an awesome design for an infant recliner!

The Nap Nanny is made out of durable, but lightweight, foam. The Nap Nanny only weighs 3lbs, so it extremely easy to take the Nap Nanny to any part of the house that you need to go!

The Nap Nanny has a weight range of 8lbs and up, the reclining position is great for toddlers too! All of my boys tried out the Nap Nanny, and only the oldest two (6 &7 years) didn't fit comfortably. It is possible to get a LOT of life out of this product!

Speaking of getting a lot out of the Nap Nanny, the Nap Nanny's weight makes it easy to take to, say, Grandma's house! If you do want to take the Nap Nanny with you, there is the Nap Nanny Travel Bag! The Travel Bag also makes a great way to protect the Nap Nanny during storage.
Okay, now that you know a little bit about the Nap Nanny, let me tell you about our experience with the Chill!

I could barely contain my excitement when the Nap Nanny arrived! The box was large, and inside the box was a large plastic bag covering our beautiful new Nap Nanny Chill!

The Nap Nanny was ready to use right out of the box.

We let it warm up a bit (since it is winter, and we're in Michigan, it was awfully cold from the travel) and then...

Now, remember how I said Annabelle was a "do not even think of putting me down" baby?
Well, she looks pretty content to me!

Over the next few weeks we started to use the Nap Nanny to train her to take some alone time...and it worked!  Annabelle didn't start sleeping through the night until she was 4 months old, and I think the Nap Nanny had a huge part in helping her! I don't even want to know how long it would have been if she hadn't learned to relax when put down!

When I was inspecting the Nap Nanny Chill, I found it to be put together well, sturdy, and convenient. If the Nap Nanny happens to get dirty, the cover is removable and washable! The cover is also has a waterproof lining so that the foam is protected!

The ONLY thing that I really wasn't fond of is the placement of the warning label.  I understand that it basically has to be right in your face for liability reasons, but it ends up right under baby's head. It would have been nice if it could have been about shoulder level or below on the baby, that way it didn't irritate their little heads (from the stitching). You can see how Annabelle chose to kind of lean away from that spot, and if she got upset  or wriggly the stitching would make her head a little pink in the back. Not a huge deal, but something to be aware of.

The three point harness is very secure. We had a bit of a difficult time loosening it, but I suppose that is a good thing since you don't want it to come loose unless intended.

Overall, I have to say that the Nap Nanny is an awesome place for a baby to hang out... my husband agrees and he thinks they should make an adult sized Nap Nanny!

The Nap Nanny is meant to be used on the floor, and the floor only. Please, don't put it in a crib, on a counter, or anywhere other than the floor. Also, be sure to not place the Nap Nanny in an place on the floor that is next to another surface (wall, couch, etc).

Belvedere Designs Review and Giveaway! CLOSED

Have you ever checked out wallquotes.com ?  No?  Well let me tell you a little bit about my experience!

First the website is nice.

You can find wall quotes, vinyl wall art, and even custom vinyl lettering!

I personally loved these designs...

I was sent a lovely surprise wall vinyl from Belvedere Designs.

Here is what I was sent:

I received the decal quickly, it came with a white tool to put the decal on with and a small instructions card.

It is simple to put the decal on, if you have never done one before, don't be too worried!

You remove the top layer of paper (kind of like you would for a temporary tattoo). Then, you place the sticky side that is exposed on the wall (that you have already marked to be sure it is straight).  Now you RUB and RUB and RUB with the tool provided. This transfers the vinyl image. Once you feel that you have rubbed enough, you slowly remove the backing paper, paying attention to the vinyl. If you have rubbed enough, the decal will come off easily! If not, rub some more!

Here is our wall with our great new decal!

It went on perfectly! We love it!

The wall we put it on is that old wood paneling that had been painted over, so it had some texture to it, but it went on nicely and we haven't had any issues with it!

If you purchase an awesome wall quote, you can snap a photo of it and enter the monthly $50 gift card giveaway for Belvedere Design by sending an email to info(at)wallquotes.com each !

How to De-Skunk a dog....

It is under unfortunate circumstances that I must write this post... my dog got sprayed by a skunk about 45 minutes ago.

In case you are coming to this post in urgent need of a de-skunking remedy, here is the recipe I used.

2 16oz Bottles of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
1 small box of Baking Soda
1tbsp of Dawn Dish soap. (I used a couple squirts).

Try to get it on the dog as quickly as possible, the faster the better! It may not seem like enough, but unless your dog is huge, it probably is plenty.

Rub down the entire dog, focusing on the part that got sprayed, but be careful around eyes, mouth and ears. Give your dog plenty of water after this process. After you rub the entire dog down try to wait a few minutes. Then, take the dog to the shower (or, if it is warm, the hose). Rinse the dog completely and thoroughly.
Doggy should smell much better now, if not...use a second batch.

This isn't our first go around with the skunks in our town. We have actually been "blessed" by the wonderful animals once before, last summer.  That time was MUCH worse, my dog had gotten sprayed right outside our window, which happened to have a fan pointing inwards (it was night, and we were getting the cool air inside).

Yeah, so much fun.

Well, thankfully we learned how to de-skunk our dog then and we were semi prepared this time...except it is the middle of winter and freezing!

Once I smelled that pungent odor my mind went blank. No....it couldn't be. NO! What are we gonna do now? It is winter, we can't spray her off with a hose, we don't want her to freeze outside, and we don't want that smell inside. Ugh. I mixed up the magic solution went out on our porch and slathered our dog, Sophie. Then I brought her inside and showered her. AND then, repeated. It seems like the smell is pretty much gone.  There is only a faint hint of it left....but our couch has some little white dots thanks to the peroxide and Sophie shaking everything off.

Tropical Traditions Review

I had the wonderful opportunity to try out Tropical Traditions' lip moisturizers!

I received 5 sticks of lip moisturizer to try out...

I was so eager to try them I opened them before getting a picture...!

These lip moisturizers are made with organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Virgin Palm Oil, and organic beeswax. Four of them also have essential oils added as well.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the orange cinnamon lip moisturizer. It reminds me of Christmas! The cinnamon/peppermint is great as well.

These lip moisturizers left my lips feeling smooth and hydrated, and I really enjoyed them!

Tropical Traditions provided me with a free sample of this product to review, and I was under no obligation to review it if I so chose.  Nor was I under any obligation to write a positive review or sponsor a product giveaway in return for the free product.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Boudreaux's Butt Paste. All opinions are 100% mine.

I have heard many good  things about Boudreaux's Butt Paste. We didn't first use Butt Paste it until just a couple weeks ago when our 4 year old had a terrible diaper rash.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste was formulated by a pharmacist with direction of a pediatrician to ensure an effective diaper rash cream was created.

The Butt Paste goes on easily, and cleans off easily as well. We loved that we could purchase many different containers. We chose to purchase the tube, but the tub would have been our second choice.

We first decided to try Boudreaux's because it had 16% Zinc oxide, which is more than the other brands of diaper rash cream we saw in the store and had been using.

Unfortunately, Boudreaux's wasn't a miracle worker for our situation, but our son's diaper rash was VERY bad. I do think that Boudreaux's Butt Paste would have worked better if we had started using it at the very first sign of diaper rash.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste is pediatrician recommended and has been featured on  The Oprah Show, the Tonight Show, the Today Show, ESPN, and While You Were Out.

Head on over to Boudreaux's Butt Paste and  find out how to get your own FREE sample now!

Daddy Dress Me Review!

This is for all the Daddy's out there, or all the really busy moms...or for people who just don't enjoy shopping.

DressMeDaddy.com is a unique new shopping site in which shoppers are given full outfit choices!

DressMeDaddy.com 's goal is to make shopping faster, easier, and to leave you with more precious time to play with that little one you are shopping for!

You can see a great video about DressMeDaddy.com at the bottom of this page.

Mark, owner of DressMeDaddy.com gave me the chance to review the site.

The site is newer, so not all the bugs have been smoothed out, but the idea behind it is great.

DressMeDaddy.com has options to look for clothing in complete outfits, by size, by gender, and by brands. You can also search for certain colors, or for clothing in certain categories.

Here is what I got from DressMeDaddy.com:

We got an adorable outfit, two headbands and two clips. :)

Here is Annabelle in the outfit:

When I picked the headbands, I had assumed that the flowers would be able to come off, but they can't. Luckily I had a headband of my own that the clippy could go onto! Pretty adorable huh?

I can't even tell you how many complements I have gotten on this outfit. So many people have asked where I have gotten it! DressMeDaddy.com has many high quality boutique outfits. Prices vary depending on brand and what is included, but you can find something for pretty much any budget.

The shipping from DressMeDaddy.com was SUPER fast. Emails were replied to extremely quickly as well. I had ordered a 6 month outfit, and was sent a 6-9 month outfit, which was a little big on Annabelle. After I contacted DressMeDaddy.com, I quickly received a 3-6 month outfit with a return label to send the other outfit back in. DressMeDaddy.com also has a 30 day return policy.... you can return the product (in original condition) for a refund, no questions asked.

Keep up-to-date with DressMeDaddy.com on Facebook, Twitter, and the Blog!

So what do you think about this type of site? Do you like that you can purchase complete outfits?

*Disclosure: I received store credit in order to conduct my review. Although I was given free product my opinions and thoughts are entirely my own and completely honest*

7 passenger vehicle, 8 in the family....

Since our little girl arrived we have been struggling with how to transport the family. We currently own a 7 passenger minivan, so if we ALL had to go somewhere, we had to take two vehicles.

Well, today we "fixed" that. We had two options.... buy another vehicle or find a seat that sat 3 children for the middle.  We were told that the only seat that was able to seat 3, and fit in our van, was another rear seat.

So, we found one. I can tell you that while it isn't ideal, another bench seat is much more economical than purchasing another vehicle! Unfortunately, the seat makes it a little more difficult for the kids to get to the back seat, but it works!

Here is my phone's (very poor quality) photo of the six kids in the back. The big white thing is Annabelle's infant seat.

I'm just happy we can all go somewhere together again!

Wednesday Weigh-In

Well, I am going to make this weigh-in short and (well, not so) sweet. I am a little depressed.

I lost my Las Vegas HCG drops, this last week...completely misplaced them. Then... I decided to have a McDonald's fish sandwich....then another the next day...then waffles......yeah, you see where I am going?

BAD BAD CHOICES!

So, my weigh-in for today is 210lbs. I'm too embarrassed to even post the picture. :( I had gotten down to 202, but bad choices quickly turned that around.

BUT, it is a new week, I can and will get back on track....my goal for this week is to lose 5 lbs. It will probably be hard without the Las Vegas HCG drops, but I think I can do it!

I hope everyone else had better results this week!

Lesson for the day.... always file a grievance if you have one!

I have to make this sort of brief since I have to go to work soon, but I wanted to put this out there so everyone can learn from my lesson.

Last September, while I was pregnant with Annabelle, I was really sick. I spent several stints in the hospital. I was also in college full time through University of Phoenix. The hospital that I use didn't have access to the internet for patients, so I was unable to post to class for an entire week. I was auto dropped from the class.

Because I was sick, and I was going to have a new baby, I was advised I could take some time off school. I had a balance remaining because of the dropped class and another previous class that I had not done so well in. I was told this balance would be covered by financial aide when I returned to school, and that I had up to 180 days to do so.

When I contacted UoP in January to return to school I was told that I could not. I was told I had to pay my balance in full before I was able to schedule another class. My account was sent to collections and I had to resolve it before they could do anything else. Seen as I had just taken 4 months off of work due to illness and maternity leave this just wasn't possible. So here I was, left with a nearly $3,000 balance to pay off, and my student loan deferment coming to an end in April. Yikes...

I contacted another university to see if I could start classes with them so that I didn't have to pay my student loans at this time. While doing all the paperwork I came across a place to file a grievance toward UoP. I did just that....

Fast forward to today... I received a call saying that the University of Phoenix is allowing me to come back and that my balance WILL be covered by financial aide, and since I will be in school again, my student loans will be deferred. It literally took DAYS after I filed the grievance for UoP to resolve the issue where as no one listened to me for almost 2 months without it.

So, long story short... always find a way to file a grievance if you have one!

Vitalicious Review

"Maximum Nutrition and Pleasure for Minimal Calories!"

Have you heard of Vitalicious? Let me tell you a little more!

Vitalicious is a food line with lower calorie options to some of the more unhealthy options out there. I personally LOVE muffins, but did you know those muffins aren't always a good choice? Depending on the muffin, there may not be much nutritional value and the amount of calories usually just isn't worth eating! Vitalicious offers Vita Tops muffin tops. Muffin tops are my favorite part, and probably yours too. The Vita Tops come in many flavors and they all have great nutritional value! Each Vita Top has about 100 calories, 4-10g of Fiber, 3-5g of Protein, and 15 vitamins and minerals!

I was sent a sampler box of Vita Tops and Vita Brownies to review.

The shipping was fast, and per instructions, I put the Vita Tops and Vita Brownies into the freezer as soon as I got them. In order to keep the products fresh, they must be frozen upon receipt as they have no preservatives or additives.

Thawing the products was simple. It took about 20 seconds in the microwave, then I could enjoy a warm muffin top (or brownie)!

My favorite Vita Top was the Cran Bran. YUMMY! My least favorite was the Banana Nut, but that is because I REALLY wanted to put some margarine on it...but that would kind of defeat the purpose of eating a low calorie food!

The brownies were okay. They weren't as good as my usual homemade brownies, but considering they were only 100 calories and much more nutritious, I think I can handle the taste exchange!

Overall, I would recommend Vitalicious Vita Tops and Vita Brownies, especially if you are looking for a more nutritious option for your diet!

Baby Bullet

I am so excited to tell you about the Baby Bullet!

The Baby Bullet is an amazing baby food making machine!  It is so easy!

Okay, let's find out what Baby Bullet is.

The Baby Bullet is a super fast, easy way for any parent to make their baby's meals. When you make your baby's meals yourself YOU choose what goes into the meal. You don't have to worry if the ingredients are organic or not, or if there are preservatives, or even if the ingredients were fresh... you know because you put what you want them to eat in! YOU are in control.

The Baby Bullet is a very quick blender, but the Baby Bullet system is so much more than that.

Here is what you get when you buy the Baby Bullet system:

When I first opened the box I immediately said "awww!"

The smiling face on the batchbowl was too cute to handle without expressing it! The colors are great (although green is my personal favorite anyhow).

The first batch of baby food that I made with the Baby Bullet was avocado.  The recipe was super easy, and I found it in the cookbook, all I needed was a little water and an avocado (peeled and pitted of course). It literally only took SECONDS to blend into the perfect consistency for baby food. Another great thing... making your own baby food is much cheaper than paying per jar of store bought food!

The Baby Bullet cookbook is really easy to follow. It gives you ideas for foods for 4-6 month olds, 7 months, 8 months, 9 months, and 10-12 months and over 1 year. There is also a food journal in the back of the cookbook to keep track of foods served.

The meal possibilities are endless with the Baby Bullet. I know with my other children I used a hand mill to make their baby food. It was tiring, and a nuisance since I could never get the perfect consistency. Let me just say, spaghetti is nearly impossible to hand mill!  I am SO excited that the Baby Bullet is so quick and easy to use. I will be able to prepare my family's meal, and then just blend some up for Annabelle (when it is age appropriate, of course).

The Baby Bullet system comes with two ways that you can store food. There is the batch tray to freeze your large batches, and there are storage cups as well. These storage cups are amazing! The storage cups have the adorable smiley face on them and they also have this handy date dial! Since baby food needs to be eaten within 3 days the date dial is great, just twist to the date that the food was made and you don't have to guess! It is also nice to have the storage tray to hold the cups, it is like an extra set of hands and makes portioning the prepared food much easier.

Overall, I have not found even one flaw with the Baby Bullet. The ONLY thing I think would make it better is if it included a storage tub.

Want to own one yourself? Buy one here, or try your luck and enter to win below!

Wednesday Weigh-In Week 6!

 It's Wednesday again!

Last week my weight was 211...today....

204 pounds!

Today is my 19th day on the Las Vegas HCG diet, so far I have lost 23 pounds!

This week I was really challenged, especially when my family all had pizza and breadsticks one night. I miss eating carbs, and fatty greasy food, but I know those foods are what got me here in the first place.

How are you doing, what has been your biggest challenge so far?

Kool-aid is evil!

Okay, okay, it isn't evil, but it sure did give me quite the scare today!

Our 4 year old, Gabriel, has been sick for a week now. High fevers, pain in his neck, and diarrhea.
Well, we went to the hospital on the 1st, because the pain in his neck had become so severe he screamed whenever he moved his head or anyone touched his head. He also walked around with his hands on his neck guarding it. This scared me because severe neck pain is a sign of Meningitis.  Well, the doctor said, no, it wasn't Meningitis, that Gabriel had a gastrointestinal virus that cause myalgia (muscle pain) in his neck and that it is pretty common.

Well, he didn't seem to get better by Wednesday and we took him again, and they said we just had to wait it out. He basically hadn't eaten a thing for 4 days! But, we waited.

Fast forward to today. Gabriel has been having diarrhea for 7 days now. His bottom is as red as red can be and awfully tender, despite the Boudreaux's Butt Paste being applied at each diaper change. Well, Gabriel came down SCREAMING that he needed to go potty (he HATES the potty, and isn't potty trained yet although we have been trying for over a year and a half). He goes into the bathroom, takes off his diaper (which he had already soiled), and then comes out screaming. My husband tries to clean him up, but he is screaming cause it hurts. So he brings him into me so I can comfort him while he cleans him up.

While my husband is wiping I notice that everything that is coming off his bottom is turning the wipes red or pink. I ask Raymond where the diaper is and he gets it. All that was in the diaper was red mucousy stuff, and it looked like blood.

We rush off to the hospital. Even though I didn't KNOW it was blood, it looked too much like blood to take the chance (in my mind at least).

Well, to make this long story shorter, not blood. The red was thanks to the kool-aid Gabriel had drank this morning (trying to keep him hydrated), and the mucous was just because he has been sick for so long. Doctor's recommendations....clear liquid diet and wait it out. :( I wonder how long before my poor little guy will feel better.

Chewbeads Review and Giveaway! CLOSED

If you have a baby you probably know your jewelry is not safe from their little hands....babies LOVE to tug, chew, and play with Mom's jewelry!

Most of Mom's jewerly may not be safe for babies, however. Well, Chewbeads jewelry is!

Chewbeads are made with 100% silicone, with no BPA, Cadmium,  PVC, Phthalates, or lead.
Chewbeads are easy to clean, just use soap and water, or even toss them in the dishwasher!

I received the Violet Jane Necklace to review:

The necklace's beads are large and easy for baby to grab. The Chewbeads were soft yet firm enough to feel safe (not so soft that I think a child could bite pieces off).

The Chewbeads necklace was really nice, my only complaint is that I couldn't wear my hair down. If I didn't put my hair up the beads would grab my hair and pull it when I moved- so if you have long hair I highly recommend putting your hair up, or purchasing a Cornelia bracelet instead.

My personal favorite Chewbeads feature is the break away clasp. I have seen some very, very cheap clasps and they just don't hold up! The clasp used on Chewbeads is high quality, I really loved it!

Nice sturdy clasp!

Overall, I think Chewbeads are a GREAT idea. I think the bracelets would be a better fit for me, only because of the hair issue. I can't wait to see the new styles that are coming out!
