Monday's Music Moves Me

Photobucket

So, this weeks theme is "Songs from your favorite group, and who they are" sooo...
My favorite band is Pearl Jam... Loooooove them!

Here is my original favorite. This is the song that got me hooked.

Here was my next favorite song by  Pearl Jam,

And, since I shared my current favorite a few weeks ago, here is another that is my close second current favorite:

So there it is! A few of my favorites from Pearl Jam!

What does your week look like?

So what are my wonderful readers doing this week?

This week I have a bazillion things to post.
I have to work (at my actual job).
And I have a few doctor appointments for my husband and kids.

With having six kids we sure do go to a lot of doctors appointments! The last couple of weeks I spent getting them all into the optometrist (I hope I spelled that right) to get their eyes checked. Now it is more check ups and a couple sick visits this week.

How do you keep your schedule organized? What do you use?

I rely on my phone, but I have found that my phone can be unreliable at times (and easy to mess up times and dates!) but I never remember to physically write appointments down.

Sickies....

Ugh...sorry for the slooooooow posting lately. This Mama Bird is sick, and so are a few of the nestlings. :(

We have caught a virus (that is all the doctor told us). Not very fun. On top of the yucky virus I also get to have the joy of passing a kidney stone. Yep, fun. So, I am going to resume posting as soon as we are feeling a bit better.

How have all my wonderful readers been?

Headphonies Review!

Ever been listening to music on your MP3 player or phone and wished you had a way to listen to music other than headphones, ear buds, or your phone's tinny speakers? Well, Headphonies are the answer!

These cute little figures wear the headphones for you and put out good quality sound for everyone to hear!

On a walk or jog and want to let your kiddo listen to? Headphonies!
Want to share a great song with a friend? Headphonies!
Just plain tired of having ear buds in your ears....that's right, Headphonies!

I received Koko to review

The kids LOVED Koko!

My husband loved the sound Koko produced. We tested the sound from little Koko against my laptops sound, and my husband said he definitely thought Koko sounded better!

Headphonies are pretty simple to use. Charge them up using the in box USB, a red light will appear. Once the red light is green you are good to go!

I also used Koko with my cell phone (see above picture). The sound was good, but the speaker got a lot of feedback/interference (I get hundreds of emails per day, so the interference was there a lot). I didn't have any problems with Headphonies and my laptop, so I am sure it was just a cell phone thing.

There are a LOT of awesome designs for Headphonies, go check them out and see for yourself!

Want to win a Headphonie? Check out Headphonies' Facebook page for more information (ends Jan 28, 2011)!

Wednesday Weigh-In Week 4!

I have some exciting news since last week! Yay!

So I mentioned that I was getting an exciting product to review... well it arrived and I have started it!

Today is my fifth day on the Las Vegas HCG diet!

Days 1-3 of the diet are really fun...you eat all the fatty, greasy, unhealthy food you can while taking 6 drops of HCG  6 times a day. I started on Saturday so I really enjoyed my weekend of eating whatever I wanted.

Day 4-up to 60 (depending on how much weight you want to lose, and how long you can go) you eat a very low calorie diet and take 6 drops of the HCG 6 times a day.

While on the diet you need to drink a LOT of water. Thankfully, I have become very fond of water. I chug down 4-5 16.9 ounce bottles of water a day plus a couple cups of tea.

So far, I LOVE this diet!

You may remember what I weighed last week...but if not, I weighed 227.5lbs.

Here is what I weigh TODAY!

I would say that is 220lbs! (Maybe 220.5, I dunno, lol). Either way, I lost 7 lbs and I am LOVING it!

I can't wait to find out what I weigh tomorrow! If you want to know too, follow my facebook page, I post updates daily!

So how did you do this week? Have you tried anything new?

Lots to Say Baby Review and Giveaway!

In 2007, after another sleepness night, Lots To Say Baby creator Erin Wilson thought it would be nice if her 3 month old son would say something, anything, to her. She chuckled about the thought of him saying "Hi", then thought about how neat it would be on a pacifier.

Now Lots To Say Baby is giving babies everywhere the chance to make their parent's laugh. Lots To Say Baby has pacifiers saying almost anything you could want your baby (or baby's pacifier) to say!

Here are some of my personal favorites:

Here is the pacifier we received:

Now that is EXACTLY what I want to tell everyone when Annabelle finally drifts off to sleep!

Here she is with the pacifier

These are some fun pacifiers!

Lots to Say Baby pacifiers are a fun way to sooth your little one, and an easy way to send a little message (like Do Not Disturb!). Hmm, they should make a "wash hands before touching" pacifier too!

Lots to Say Baby pacifiers are BPA free, and PVC and Phthalate free. The pacifiers are also dishwasher safe!

Giveaway!
Lots to Say Baby has offered TWO Six in the Nest readers each two pacifiers!
1 Two Pack Pacifiers - Snooze Button Pink & Hi White
1 Two Pack Pacifiers - Hi Red & Volume Control Blue

Vinyl wall decals are a great way to add some life to your walls without having to make permanent changes to them. I love the simplicity of wall decals, rub them on, remove the transfer paper and then you have a gorgeous new wall!

There are so many designs at Accent Studios, I am sure you could find a great design for any room!

Here are some of my favorite designs,

Vinyl decals aren't only for walls either! You can use them on many surfaces! I used mine on the window pane of my door!

My Welcome decal went on very easily, and I think it looks great on the glass!

You can put the vinyl decals on any clean, smooth surface!

Posh Pads Review and Giveaway! CLOSED

If you have ever breastfed your baby you probably know about let down, and what happens to "the other side" when baby is eating. Yes, that's right, there is some leakage. So, in order to stay dry (and not have an embarrassing situation) breast pads are a must!

I had been using  disposable nursing pads since Annabelle's birth, but I wanted a more eco-friendly option (plus disposables get expensive!).  Posh Pads are a fun way to help save the Earth (and your money!) and have a pretty little secret as well!

The owners of Posh Pads, Robyn and Jessica, found that the two nursing pad options they had while nursing were disposables (white, and boring), or washables (also white, and boring). There was a problem, mothers were being left out of the stylish department! Robyn and Jessica set out to change this, thus creating Posh Pads!

Posh Pads are made from organic bamboo. Bamboo is naturally anti-microbial and wicks away moisture, both very important features in a nursing pad!

I received the Wild  Leopard Mama pads.

Here is what they look like when they come:

The nursing pads were much larger than I thought they would be, but I suppose that is a good thing because they can help keep me dryer longer. The Posh Pads were easy to care for, and they absorb well. I only noticed them damp in the mornings, which is pretty good. I was able to wear them for about 12 hours at a time, so they would be able to keep you dry through a long day at work.

I really like the organic feature, as well as the fact that bamboo is sustainable. It is also fun knowing you have a little secret style going on!

Giveaway!
Posh Pads has offered one Six in the Nest reader a pair of Posh Pads!

Right on the Walls Review and Giveaway!*Closed*

Who loves nice wall decorations? I know I do!

I also love to personalize my home, but... we rent.

I have recently found a new way to decorate my home. Vinyl wall decals!

Right on the Walls gave me the chance to try out one of their wonderful wall decals in my home, and I fell in love!

Right on the Walls' website has SO many gorgeous wall decorations, it was really, really difficult to choose which one I wanted! I finally chose this:

The decal shipped quickly, and I received it fast as well. Since this was my first wall decal I had used I was a little nervous, to say the least. Right on the Walls sent a small practice piece for me to use first, which I put on our mirror. It was easy enough, but I was nervous about the large decal. Thankfully my husband had put similar decals on vehicles before, so he helped me.

Along with the decal we received a nice pink tool to put the decal on with, and a GREAT step by step instruction guide!

Here are some pictures of our project!
Before...                     rubbing first layer on
Peeling the transfer paper off...        first layer on!

Final Product!

Overall, it was pretty simple to put on! It was also a lot of fun to do!
The design I chose did have a lot of curly details, which meant we had to go very slowly when peeling the transfer paper off. When a piece started to come with the transfer paper we just quick gave it a good rub, and it stuck to the wall.

The ONLY thing about this decal I didn't love is the fact that the green birds were slightly transparent, so you could see the black branch through the birds.

It is a small thing, and I doubt anyone else will notice, but it is something good for you all to know when choosing colors!

Vinyl wall decals are awesome because they are easy to apply, easy to remove, and a quick way to change a room. Right on the Walls has so many designs to chose from, but if you need something different they can do a custom design for you!

Soooo, you really want one, right?

Right on the Walls has offered Six in the Nest readers a 15% coupon code!
Use code: BR15DCT during checkout to receive the discount!

You can also find great promotions on Right on the Walls' Facebook Page and by joining their email list!

Mom.... I need new shoes!

Shoes shoes SHOES!

Ohhhh my do we have shoes. With 5 little boys running around we have accumulated at least 50 pairs of shoes, if not more!

We try to save them, pass them down, but it always seems like we can't find the right pair when we need them, they don't fit right, or one shoe is missing!

Well, about a month ago RJ's shoes had to be trashed. I hadn't realized it but the sole had come off and his shoe was now "talking" when he walked. So, into the trash they went. I figured, hey, it's winter, he can wear his gym shoes at school (the kids aren't allowed to wear gym shoes outside to save the gym floor).

Well, fast forward to last week....my husband has to go to the school and he comes home telling me that RJ is wearing his boots all day long!

Well, that isn't acceptable to me, so my husband and I go looking for some shoes. I am a bargain hunter. I HATE paying full price for anything. My husband- he doesn't care, if he wants it it is worth the money to him. Raymond quickly finds several pairs of shoes- all of them over $50 a pair. No, no nononono. So, I look. I find a pair that I like for $35. My husband seems to like them too! Yay! I think....then, my husband shows me that they are glued. Okay, well, now I am thinking "these are crap, I shouldn't pay more that $15 for these" and the $35 price tag is no longer acceptable to me. Well, lets just say we didn't come home with a pair of shoes that day, even after shopping at 6 stores.

Now we've come to today.
Today we take RJ out of school to go shopping for some shoes. We need his feet and we don't want to take all the kids with us when we're only getting one something. Anyhow, RJ insists he wants light up character shoes. We start at Target and we find no shoes that both parties like. Off to Payless, again, no results. Famous Footwear? Okay, there are plenty of styles, but the price!!! Ouch!

I really want to know how a shoe that is half the size of an adult's shoe can cost the same price, or more! It is insane!

We did manage to find a pair that we all agreed upon. I got my deal, $50 marked down to $35, Raymond got the quality (they were pretty nice, and will hopefully last more than a couple months), and RJ got glow in the dark (not light up, but not totally uncool). It may have taken us nearly 12 hours total to find a darn pair of shoes, but we succeeded!

TruKid Review!

I am SO excited to let you all know about TruKid products. When I contacted Jennifer (who, on top of being the founder of TruKid, has six children as well) about a review I never imagined I would love a product line so much!

TruKid  products are simply a must have!
TruKid products are BPA and Phthalate free! TruKid makes safe products that families can feel good about; TruKid's certified organic and natural ingredients are always SLS, paraben, 1-4 Dioxane and Gluten-free!
As parents we all want our children to be safe and happy. These products will help you children be both!

TruKid is a line of bath and body products that are all natural and  toxic-chemical free. All the products contain only ingredients that are good for you.

You may not know it, but your current children's bath and body products probably have harmful chemicals in them! Don't believe me? Check out the Environmental Working Group's Cosmetic Safety Database and use the search tool to see information about your current products. TruKid's product's ratings, according to the Environmental Working Group, are all between 0 and 3!  I was stunned when I looked up the products we used to use! I can't believe I thought the products I had been purchasing were safe!  Scary, but true. Thank goodness for TruKid!

Okay, I want to introduce you to the products

These are the products that I received for review.
Sunny Days Sunblock (stick and lotion)

We have been using these products for about a month now. The boys love them all; they have a lot of fun with the face wash! TruKid products are truly kid friendly. Besides being colorful and exciting, TruKid products also have a simple picture to help kids know which product to use where.

Simple and easy  for a kid to learn!

My personal favorite TruKid product is the Happy Face & Body Lotion. I am a  CNA, and I wash my hands a lot! My hands get very very dry and cracked. My son, Gabriel also has a similar problem with his hands and cheeks; they are really, really dry. Have you ever tried to put lotion on super dry and cracked hands? It burns....it burns really bad! Gabriel would literally scream when I tried to apply our old lotion on him because it hurt! Well, not TruKid's Happy Face & Body lotion! Gabriel was scared at first, thinking it would burn, but after the first try he loved it! Gabriel now asks to have this lotion put on his hands (he would never ask for the other lotions we used)!

Another thing I loved about these products is the scent. The smell isn't heavy or strong, it is light and fruity. I am not sure what the actual scent is, but it reminded me of apples. My husband wasn't as big of a fan of the scent, but I suppose not everyone likes the same smells. The kids didn't comment on the scent, so I know it wasn't too overwhelming for them either.

Most of the ingredients in TruKid products may be familiar to you. If not, you can go on the website an find out what it is and what the ingredient does! It was interesting to learn why these ingredients are used, and I really like the fact that I now know what my kids are putting on their bodies!

TruKid products really are some of the best products I have used and the TruKid website is jam-packed with information that is helpful to any parent. Go take a look at the site and see for yourself, there is even a neat kid's area!!

Keep current with TruKid's latest!
You can follow TruKid's blog and find TruKid on Twitter!

I received the above products for review. I received no monetary compensation and all opinions in this post are entirely my own.

Wednesday Weigh-In Week 3

Well, this week hasn't been so great.

I have been watching what I eat, counting calories and all, but I have managed to gain weight. :(

I did drink two 20 oz sodas this week, which I normally don't do so there were extra calories there, but I cut back on food on those days to make up for them. Sigh. I don't know. Hopefully this week will be better.

In more exciting news.... I am going to try out a new diet!
I want to wait until I actually receive the product before I let you all know more about it, but it looks like it could be the perfect thing for me!

Okay, so here it is..my weigh in for today:

I think that says 227.5 :( Ugh.

Well, this week I WILL do better!

So, how did you do? What are you finding to be the most difficult?

If you are just joining in on Wednesday Weigh-Ins don't forget to link your blog/page up here!

The Secret Weapon!

Okay... so we have this little product that my husband calls his secret weapon.

It is definitely one of the things we recommend to new parents most.

This secret weapon is great for fussy babies, in fact for us it has put our babies to sleep almost instantly!

So, have you guessed what the secret weapon is yet???

Here's my husband...with his "secret weapon"!

It's a SLEEPY WRAP!

Seriously, the Sleepy Wrap is one of  THE best baby products I have ever used! Babies just can't help but fall asleep inside this cozy wrap!

And just so that everyone knows, we actually purchased this item, I did not receive it in order to do a review... My husband just made me laugh today because he said he was getting out the secret weapon when Annabelle was being fussy, and I wanted to share with everyone. :)

Anyone else have a Sleepy Wrap? Do you have a "secret weapon" that always seems to work for you?

CSN Review!

You may remember that I had been given the chance to review a CSN product.

CSN has over 200 stores to choose from, so it was hard to choose what product I wanted to review!

I finally decided on the Daniadown Serpini  Willow Throw

I ordered the throw on December 17, 2010. CSN stores said I should expect the throw to arrive on Jan 7th, 2011 and I am happy to say I received the product more quickly!

The product was shipped on December 22nd, and it arrived at my home on December 28th! Not bad at all considering the holiday's effect on shipping.

As for the product, I LOVE the Daniadown Shirpini Throw! It is so incredibly soft!

My husband loves the blanket even more than I do, however.

If you want a REALLY REALLY soft blanket, go buy this!

Inspired by Finn Review!

Have you ever heard of Hazelwood? How about Hazelwood jewelry? I hadn't either until I was looking at Inspired by Finn's website and I came across some neat Hazelwood necklaces

I have been given the chance to review a Hazelwood necklace.

Here is the necklace I received, and have been wearing:

Pretty isn't it?!

Hazelwood is an ancient remedy that was first used by aboriginal people. It is said that Hazelwood helps neutralize your body's acidity. When your body's acidity is reduced ailments such as ulcers, acid refux, heartburn, skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne, migraines and bleeding gums can be reduced as well. These necklaces seem like a must have for pregnancy- I know I sure had many of those ailments when pregnant!

In order to receive the therapeutic benefits of the Hazelwood, the necklace must be worn as much as possible. I wore mine day and night, even in the shower as suggested!

I wore this necklace for over two weeks straight (night, day, and in the shower) and I still had a small bout of heartburn while wearing it. However, I didn't have any migraines, which I do get fairly often. I have heard that Hazelwood can make a HUGE difference for people with eczema.

Overall, I love the look of the necklace, so no matter if it really does something or not it is still pretty and worth the $29.95 for the necklace to me.

Inspired By Finn has Hazelwood necklaces in all sizes from child's sizes to adult.
